What is World of Chat?
World of Chat is an online chat community offering free, moderated chat rooms for people from around the world, especially the UK, to meet, make friends, and socialise online.
Is World of Chat free?
Yes, the chat rooms are 100% free to join and use.
Do I need to register?
No, registration is optional. You can join as a guest or create an account for a persistent username and profile.
Can I join as a guest?
Yes, simply click “Enter Chat”, choose “Guest”, select a nickname, and you’re in instantly.
How do I create an account?
Go to our Register page, enter your desired username, password, email, and verify your age (18+ only).
How do I log in?
Click the “Login” option in the chat window, enter your registered credentials, and press submit.
Can I use World of Chat on my phone?
Yes, the site and chat rooms are fully mobile-responsive and work flawlessly on all smartphones and tablets.
Do I need to download an app?
No, there is no app download required. The chat runs directly in your mobile web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) for instant access.
Using the Chat Rooms
How do I join a chat room?
Once inside the chat, click on the room index/rooms icon to view the list of available rooms, including UK city chat rooms such as London Chat, Newcastle Chat and General Chat, then tap to join.
How do I send a private message?
Click on a user’s nickname in the userlist or chat feed, select “Private Message” or “Whisper”, and type your message. You can also use the World of Chat Messenger for one-to-one conversations.
Can I upload images?
Registered users can share images in private chats. Sharing images in public lobbies is disabled to keep the feed safe and clean.
Can I block or ignore another user?
Yes, click the user’s nickname and select “Ignore” or “Block”. Their messages will be hidden from you immediately.
Can I change my username?
Registered users can update their display name in their Profile settings. Guests must disconnect and enter a new name.
Can I have more than one account?
No, we enforce a strict one-account-per-user policy to prevent ban evasion and impersonation.
Safety & Moderation
Is World of Chat moderated?
Yes, our rooms are moderated 24/7 by a dedicated team of administrators and moderators to help maintain a safe, friendly environment. Our chat room safety guide explains the basics.
How do I report another user?
You can report users directly through several features on our site:

Main Chat Room:
Click the user’s name, select ‘Report User’, fill out the reason, or type
/report [username] [reason]in the chat box. - Messenger: Click the user’s profile and use the ‘Report User’ option.
- Moderators/Administration: Contact moderators directly inside the chat lobbies, or message the owner (Jason) directly on the Messenger where he is regularly active.
- Email: You can also send detailed reports with screenshots to our support email at worldofchat@hotmail.co.uk .
What happens when I report someone?
Active moderators are instantly alerted with a log snippet. They will review it and take actions ranging from warning to ban.
What happens if I break the rules?
Minor violations result in a warning or a temporary kick. Repeated violations lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
What behaviour results in an immediate permanent ban?
Severe misconduct like hate speech, sharing adult material, spamming scripts/bots, harassment, or advertising other services.
Why is World of Chat for adults aged 18+ only?
To maintain a mature, safe space where adult conversations can happen freely without endangering minors.
Are chat rooms safe?
While we have active moderation, you should never share personal information (address, bank details, phone numbers) with strangers online.
How do you protect users?
We employ real-time spam filters, block known proxy/VPN ranges used by spammers, and run active moderation. For behaviour expectations, read our chat room etiquette rules.
Accounts
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Click the “Forgot Password” link on the login page and enter your email address to receive reset instructions.
How do I delete my account?
Send a request via our contact form or contact an administrator directly inside the chat room. We will purge your profile details promptly.
How long are inactive accounts kept?
Accounts inactive for more than 12 months may be pruned to release usernames and optimize our user database.
Why can’t I log in?
Check your spelling, verify CAPS lock is off, or make sure your account hasn’t been temporarily suspended for a rules violation.
Why was my account banned?
A ban occurs when rules are repeatedly violated. If you believe this was an error, you can submit a ban appeal via our contact email.
Privacy
What information do you collect?
We collect your email address, username, IP address, and basic browser user-agent information to secure and run the service.
Why do you log IP addresses?
IP logging is used solely to enforce administrative bans, block automated spambots, prevent chat abuse, and protect our community.
Are private messages monitored?
Private messages are confidential. They are only reviewed when a user submits a report for harassment or rules violations, trigger-flagging logs for admin review.
Can I request a copy of my personal data?

to request a full export of your personal information.
How do I request deletion of my data?
Email our support team and we will purge all associated accounts, profiles, and logs within 30 days.
Technical Help
Which browsers are supported?
All modern HTML5 browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera.
Why isn’t the chat loading?
Ensure your internet connection is active, refresh the page, or check if you are behind a corporate firewall that blocks WebSockets.
Why is the chat running slowly?
This can be caused by high local CPU usage, outdated browser versions, or a congested network connection. Try clearing your browser cache.
Why can’t I send messages?
You might have been muted or temporarily banned by a moderator, or you are experiencing connection drops. Try reconnecting to the lobby.
